Biography and my story
I am a Japanese dance artist. I have been trained in Shin Buyo (the modern style of Nihon Buyo) since the age of 6. With 14 years of experience in this dance form, I have learned in portraying the essence of Japanese culture through graceful movements and expressive gestures. Its beauty lies in its ability to express complex emotions and themes through precise movements and gestures, while also showcasing the intricate interplay between movement and music.
Since 2024, I have been training classical Nihon Buyo at Kotoutamai Wakamiya-ryu(video examples), focusing on traditional forms such as Nagauta and Jiutamai. Through this training, I have developed a wide performance range, from classical to modern Nihon Buyo styles.
I have performed at various prestigious venues such as Japan Event for Conde House Europa (2022-present), Suntory Whisky (2024), Lexus (2019) and Japanmarkt (2018-present) and has received accolades for my performances. I have also had the opportunity to introduce Japanese culture through my dance to students of all ages, including at Picasso-Grundschule in Berlin and Latvian culture Academy in Riga.
Drawing from my experiences in learning various aspects of Japanese traditional culture, including tea ceremony, calligraphy, and kimono dressing, I carry a deep appreciation and understanding of Japanese culture.
My roots trace back to the once-thriving kimono industry of my hometown, Tokamachi in Niigata Prefecture, which has inspired my career in contributing to regional revitalization through kimono-related activities.
With a strong foundation in Japanese dance, I am wholeheartedly committed to sharing my passion for Japanese culture with audiences around the world, primarily through captivating Japanese dance performances. I am excited to bring my talent and expertise to your event and create a memorable and authentic experience for all attendees.
I learned Shin Buyo (the modern style of Nihon Buyo) in Japan for 14 years solely from my previous instructor.
In the tradition of this art, dancers would perform the Instructor’s choreography, however as an avant-gardiste, I create my own choreographies thanks to my unique aesthetic sense and a desire to convey specific messages.
I infuse my choreography with personal expression, my individuality and artistic vision, creating captivating and meaningful dance pieces. In essence, the foundation of my dance lies in Nihon Buyo, extending beyond the framework of Japanese traditional dance. I dance to various genres of music, collaborate with artists from diverse backgrounds, and infuse my performances with my unique message.
